Continuous Improvement Engineer

Continuous Improvement Engineer in San Leandro, CA. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical
Engineering or Robotics. Minimum 8-years’ experience as continuous improvement engineer in
manufacturing with automotive or aeronautic expertise. Lean Manufacturing, Internal Auditor
ISO 9001/IATF 16949, Balanced Scorecard Certification, six sigma or equivalent.

Job title – Quality Assurance Engineer
Job duties – Engineer industrial manufacturing processes that assure effective production quality. Enact
quality control engineering procedures to resolve industrial engineering productions problems and minimize
costs. Engineer industrial control systems to coordinate activities and production planning across
manufacturing to ensure that products meet quality standards and improvement processes. Create and
maintain quality control and staff systems to ensure consistent and effective use of the appropriate
manufacturing processes. Coordinate/interface with engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve
problems relative to product designs, specifications, materials, tooling, planning and production operations.
Oversee the documentation of industrial engineering and manufacturing processes, including the information
required for quality management system certification to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards. Generate testing
and documentation necessary to meet customer required new part/production approval processes. Use
Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) formats and processes for customers requiring it: PPAP (Production
Part Approval Process), APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning), FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis), SPC
(Statistical Process Control), MSA (Measurement System analysis). Interact with the customers and vendors to
solve and prevent production and quality issues. Participate in reviews for engineering processes and lead
continuous improvement to engineering and manufacturing projects. Lead intra-company communications
including meetings (inter-departmental staff meetings, management reviews and plant-wide communications
meetings) to prevent, solve and deal with quality issues, working directly with the personnel on the floor.
Validate the quality of the parts and the effectiveness of the process during the daily walk providing feedback
to the operators and improvements. Generate and maintain production and quality paperwork and records.
Education and Experience required – Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field and 8 years of experience as a Quality
Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Process Improvement Manager, Senior Quality Consultant, Plant Manager,
Consultant with a focus on process/systems improvement, or in a related occupation.
Background – 8 years of experience developing manufacturing standards and procedures, and working on
quality assurance projects for manufacturing processes. 2 years of experience with supply chain management
in manufacturing processes. 5 years of experience with tools for problem solving, including 8 D’s, PDCA, A3
methodology, 5W2H, Poka Yoke, and Dandori to improve the KPIs of the manufacturing processes. Experience
and certificates in Lean Six Sigma, Quality Core Tools, Ki Wo Tsukau. Experience with ISO standard 9001:2015
and IATF standard 16949:2016 audits and management system. 5 years of experience in the implementation
of improvement projects. 5 years of experience as a trainer on quality tools and improvement projects.
Analytical abilities and familiarity with measuring tools such as caliper, micrometer, thermometer, measuring
tape, hardness gauge and interpretation of drawings in English system of measurement and Metric system of
measurement. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCad and Google apps to create, update and share information in
real time. MRP Proficient (SAP or SAGE).
Location – San Leandro, CA
Rate of pay – $155,958 per year
